We've already past the half-way line for 2014, yikes! Thanks to everyone who came out July 3 at the Square Room -- we had a great time. I mentioned at the show that I'd be traveling to Las Vegas on July 4 to meet up with my parents, who were excited to tell me they'd bought Celine Dion tickets. So I spent 4th of July in Caesar's Palace watching Celine. The no-picture-taking nazis made it impossible to provide evidence, but i was there. I witnessed her rise into the air on a mechanical platform with water-lights spiraling down as she sang "My Heart Will Go On." It was epic.
After hanging out with Celine, I went to Southern California to spend time with family and friends. My two-year-old nephew now calls me Uncle Doughy and it's precious. I take no offense to the fact that he basically calls me Uncle Fat. Anyway, in sum -- friends and family and beaches and sunshine and laughter mixed with goodbye tears.
Now it's back to Tennessee, back to songwriting, back to Starbucks (where i work), back to reality. It's been a good year thus far, the year of the Plastic Horse. I'll continue performing and writing and finish the next six months strong. I'm definitely excited about new material in the works... but for now, thanks to all of you who support my endeavors and I hope the music gives back in its own way.
